About the ‘Ānandīn’ Initiative
One of LSF's notable initiatives is 'Ānandīn,' which promotes eco-friendly, handmade learning tools for encouraging hands-on, experiential learning at the early & primary levels of rural education. These tools are crafted to be both environmentally sustainable and educationally effective, aligning with the LSF's mission to provide integrated learning and development opportunities.
This project emphasizes LSF's commitment to holistic and accessible education, and to strengthen the foundations of early & primary learning in rural areas.
‘Ānandīn’ Skills Development Project: Transforming Early Childhood Education
The Ānandīn Skills Development project is a progressive intervention designed for early learners aged 4 to 8 years, especially located in remote rural areas of India, and studying in govt. run pre-schools & primary schools. This intervention represents a modern and innovative approach to education, aligning with the evolving skilling needs of the 21st century. Its primary objective is to provide learners with an enjoyable and experiential learning experience, incorporating environmentally friendly educational tools, to enhance active participation in activities & develop a liking & affinity to education in the rural child at an early age.
Through Ānandīn, the focus is on fostering both life skills and foundational skills by integrating the school environment with dynamic methods & materials of learning to positively influence a child's learning journey. The intervention in pre-schools and primary rural schools emphasizes holistic development, aiming to nurture skills like critical thinking, creativity, and adaptability in young minds.
In alignment with India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Ānandīn seeks to bridge the gap between traditional and modern educational methodologies. It not only supports academic growth but also prioritizes life skills development to prepare learners for future challenges, as prescribed in the NEP 2020.
Currently, Ānandīn is being implemented in select rural pre-primary schools called Anganwadis & Zilla Parishad primary schools in the Wada Taluka, located in the Palghar district of Maharashtra. By incorporating learner-centric methods and environmentally conscious practices, this intervention aspires to set a benchmark for early childhood education and create a model for sharing to schools across the region and beyond.
