Community Development

Warli Art and Handicraft

Over the years, Learning Space has sought to co-ordinate its educational projects in a manner where they can continue to run free of cost indefinitely. The Warli Indian Tribal Art project is an example of a venture which has the potential of reviving an ancient art form whilst supporting the livelihood of artists and artisans. Since 2008, Warli Artists at Learning Space, have contributed innovatively by introducing colourful images, dynamic back & foreground combinations of imagery, and themes that enhance the simplicity and harmony of nature. In the recent past, designers of popular brands of women's traditional wear have worked with unit artist’s to cultivate new styles and forms of clothing. Lately, artists have developed a set of canvas paintings sized 7” X 9” that depict the Warli tribe living in perfect harmony with nature as a message to humanity, and another set that depicts Gods and Goddesses from the Hindu Pantheon.
