Transforming Lives

Smita's Story

Smita is one of three sisters in a family that barely makes ends meet. The man of the house runs a small grocery shop and tills his land for home-grown rice crop.

After Smita completed her Diploma in Electronics Engineering in 2014, she was interviewed by a hiring company and was dismayed to see that they preferred Electronics graduates and not Diploma holders. She escalated the matter to her father, but he was perturbed as he could not afford the graduate course.

Soon enough, someone in the neighbourhood of Akloli village in Bhiwandi Taluka, suggested that they meet with Nitin Orayan of LSF, and seek assistance.

A donor, by the name of Dr. Sunnu Balsara, based in Mumbai was glad to support a village girl keen on a career in electronics, consistently contributing tuition fees to the tune of Rs 40000 to 50000 per year.

Smita completed her graduation course in 2018, and decided to do a post-graduate enhancement short term course in Java by the end of the year.

Today Smita is happily married and works in an electronics company in suburban Mumbai.
