English Proficiency Program

For Zilla Parishad Primary School Teachers

OBJECTIVE OF THE PROGRAM

To improve the English proficiency of Zilla Parishad (Z.P.) teachers and as a result, the quality of English language education in schools. Further, to encourage and empower the children of marginalized rural society, by providing them access to quality education at vernacular schools, and offering equal opportunity to develop ability at the primary level in accordance with mainstream employment needs.

The Primary Strategy

The primary objective of the English Proficiency Program is to designate the Teacher as the basic resource to develop spoken English & classroom teaching skills. By improving the confidence and English language skills of Zilla Parishad Teachers, we improve the quality of English language teaching, and enhance the capacity of children to imbibe English as a third language.

In order to encourage and empower the children of marginalized rural society, we must offer access to quality education at vernacular schools, and extend equal opportunity to better abilities at a primary school level. At the same time, we must open the doors to higher education and mainstream careers which is only possible through English language proficiency.

Throughout this comprehensive 60 hour certification course, we intend to increase the amount of language practice. In turn, this will lead to an ease of expression in everyday teaching, as well as in the teachers' personal and social life. In this way, we hope to inspire the rest of the teaching fraternity to follow in the Zilla Parishad teacher's footsteps.
